Project description
Police Emergency Reporting is an OL challenge that seeks a solution to the ever growing number of incident reporting happening through social media channels of police officers, rather than through official channels.
Context
The Dutch National Police has launched the challenge within Fontys ICT Open Learning to find a way to solve their social media incident reporting issue. It is a growing trend among the younger generation to seek police help via social media representatives, rather than through official channels. As their social media is not constantly under observation, police officers are not always able to handle these incidents as they come in. Many reports are time-critical ones, and as such a solution must be found in order to help both civilians and officers in this issue.
Results
MeldMonitor is an internal police application that scans, categorizes and notifies police officers of emergency requests for help coming in via their TikTok direct messages. The app allows users to see an overview of their TikTok account's daily activity, and gives them the power to forward high-priority incidents to the Command & Control Center of the police.
