Project description
For this project we came up with the following design challenge:
"Design a physical experience to enable caregivers (and relatives) at Kempenhaeghe to experience and understand how it feels to have epilepsy so they can empathize with patients and understand their experience with epilepsy better"
Context
For this project, we have worked closely with Kempenhaeghe, a specialized center for people with epilepsy. The objective was to create a physical experience to help people who don't have epilepsy understand what it's like to live with the condition.
Our client gives workshops to the employees at Kempenhaeghe, but they are currently looking into innovative ways to adapt their workshops to create a better experience for their employees.
Results
We've created a video that shows the visual as well as auditory effects of epilepsy which can be viewed in VR. The visual epilepsy experience offers a unique and immersive way to understand what it’s like to live with epilepsy. By simulating the visual and sensory disturbances associated with seizures, this project helps individuals without the condition to empathize with those who do. It provides a tangible insight into the challenges faced by people with epilepsy, from the unpredictability of seizures to the impact on daily life. This project has the potential for future development, paving the way for enhanced awareness, more comprehensive educational programs, and improved support for those affected by epilepsy.
