Project description
We are a group of ICT & Technology students, we all have done our specialization before in Smart Industries. This past semester we have worked on this project for the majority time, spending each day working on getting the vehicle ready for the competition and implementing autonomous modules.
Context
The project is a challenge set-up by the RDW, called the self-driving challenge. This is goal of the project is to drive a autonomous vehicle through some common traffic situation, such as a crosswalk, overtaking and traffic lights/signs. This vehicle can be a standardized vehicle (closed category) or vehicle with self chosen hardware(open category).
During the challenge teams have to find solutions to solve these challenges and make sure the vehicle can traverse the track safely.
Results
Over the duration of the project we have been able to create a complex system able to autonomously drive a vehicle, and complete the challenges of the competition that is was initially created for.
We explored and learned about autonomous control techniques within this project. We had great teamwork and were able to deliver a sustainable, eco-friendly solution for the competition and a great product to our product owner.
The end product was projected to be of TRL level 6-7 and we believe we have met that estimation. Currently we believe our vehicle to be of TRL level 6. We believe that within the tight schedule we had we have been able to deliver a execellent product that potential later teams can build on to reach even greater heights.
At the competition, our vehicle reached the top 2 for the open category classification.
