Office IoT
Project description
The office IoT project aims to monitor key comfort and performance characteristics of the office. A suite of sensors can be used to, display, and inform.
Displaying would be done through visualisations of the office floor plan on a screen that is then overlayed with the key data. This could be heatmaps to display volume in different sections of a floor plan, or a more creative approach such as using sensor readings to generate visualisations to convey the conditions.
Context
Our project is one put forward by Open Remote, a company that is developing an open source IoT management solution. The general name of the challenge offered by OpenRemote is “Wackiest IoT device”, what this in effect means is that open remote is open to any creative or interesting project that uses their management solution. The project we have presented to OpenRemote’s CEO, Pierre, is an IoT solution for the workplace, which aims to monitor and inform about different factors in the office, while also optimizing energy consumption and resource utilization.
Results
In the end, our project consist of a map with live heatmap of how noisy the office is. But most importantly, we're created amazing fundementals for future developer. Implementing functionality to predict how busy the office will be on certain days, and hours, or whatever they desire.
About the project group
During one semester, equal to 20 weeks with 4 days a week of work. We had a group of 5 people, which were all new to open learning. We worked on this Our group had semester 2, 4 and 7 students. This resulted in a very varying group, and a great challenge.
