Project description
Our main research question was:
How can we introduce users better and more efficiënt to Virtual Reality in preperation to the first session of the Virtual Warehouse Trainer.
Context
The context of the project lies in designing a better UX to introduce people to their VR training software.
This touches on the following subjects:
1. Software development, this holds the prototyping, testing, and building of the application.
2. User Interaction, this holds in the research, planning, and designing of a better tutorial.
Right now, the VR intro application makes use of a lot of text to tell the user what’s going on and what they need to do. While this does work, there are more elegant ways of teaching people how to use VR. We are to take a page out of casual games to really see what we could do to make a good tutorial: one of which being a more interactive teaching rather than reading.
The scope of the challenge is defined within a very open view to look at the project. We have the opportunity to create a new environment of the introduction environment or just to make a few changes to the already existing environment.
Results
We've made a VR_Introduction prototype. Which is able to train the people into VR before they're going to start the actual forklift training, so people could get used to the VR experience.
Specific results:
1. A working prototype.
2. Clear instructions of the interactions which are always available to the user.
3. People can practice at their own pace.
4. Proper gameflow, with a growing complexity and good connections between sections.
