Project description
For the PSV project, we had set up the following design challenge:
“Design a user interface to enable fans in the stadium to enrich their experience with the live match day data”.
Context
This project will take place at the marketing and communication department of PSV. They are currently creating a Brainport Experience Box within the stadium where supporters can experience the match in a different way. Brainport is an innovative eco-system in Brabant. With a strong technical manufacturing industry and a unique cooperation between companies, it bundles all that knowledge to create a strong organization (Brainport Eindhoven, 2021).
They will get a tablet during the match where a lot of information will be displayed like player stats, stadium noise data, public transport information and more. The purpose of the Brainport Experience Box is to use the strength of the ecosystem Brainport Eindhoven to develop and test ideas and technologies to come to new smart stadium fan experiences and fan engagement solutions.
The current tablet with applications PSV used was a bad experience for the users, the UI was considered as hard to use. Our goal was to create a better user interface for the application and by doing that also creating a better user experience.
Results
We have delivered the following products to PSV.
- Thorough research in the following areas (Fan experience, User interface, Target audience)
- Empathy maps and surveys based on the users needs
- User tested high-fidelity prototype of the application (ready to be developed)
- Design system
- Advice document for PSV with follow-up steps
Methodology
To address our problems / challenges within the project, we used the DOT framework. From concepting to research to design, we used the various research methods that fit within the DOT framework.
