Project description
Design and develop a web portal and mobile application, serving as a digital cookbook, to connect the peoplе of Oud-Woensel via the sharing of its diverse cuisine.
Context
Technology has been often used for projects with social benefits, and this one was no exception. The big neighbourhood of Woensel is growing not only physically, but culturally. Every year this neighbourhood attracts more and more new nationalities: Turkish, Bulgarians, Russian, Siria, and many more are moving to Woensel.
Every week Eindhoven hosts a big Saturday market on Kruisstraat (Woensel Maarkt). The market offers food, flowers, and other things from all over the world. Seinpost decided to create a project, to unite the different cultures of Woensel through food.
Results
As a final product the team has developed a user friendly multi-platform application, which allows the users to share recipes with eachother, as well as save them, rate them, and share to external sources (facebook, pinterest). On top of that we have created the back-end to sustain the application, as well as admin tools, visible only to admi users, to moderate the content of the system.
Methodology
As our main problem was to connect people in the Oud-Woensel region, firstly we did some Field research, to find out what nationalities live there. This helped us to understand our target audience. We also conducted several interviews with our Client, to better understand and visualize the project goal. After that, utilizing some Library methods, we researched similar products, patterns and standard practices, to develop a great user-friendly application, which can serve its purpose of connecting people. Through the use of A/B testing, Prototyping and Product review, we gained valuable feedback on how to improve our product, allowing us to deliver the best possible final product.
