Enthusiastic companies and driven talents meet at the Fontys ICT Career Day

On Thursday 18 April, the Fontys InnovationLab in Eindhoven was buzzing with energy during the Fontys ICT Career Day. Some 60 companies, including Jumbo, ASML, GAC, Axians, Simac, Blueriq, Municipality of Eindhoven, Copaco, Info Support, Eviden, were ready to meet Fontys ICT students.

It was a dynamic opportunity for students to find out about internships, side jobs and their future careers, while companies continued their search for top talent. According to Rianne Vullings of ACA-it, the event is an excellent opportunity to connect with young IT talent interested in an environment where innovation and technology come together.

A unique opportunity for students and companies

Milou from Sogeti is looking for motivated, inquisitive students who are open to a thriving IT career. "Many students who intern with us can advance into a trainee programme. We want to keep good students within our company. We offer them a 12-month route and they can even go to America for 2 weeks."

Joran Quinten of Jumbo wants to show during the Career Day especially that Jumbo is a real tech company: "We use the Career Day mainly to talk to the students about the opportunities at Jumbo. After the Career Day, we invite the students we have spoken to our company. That way we can better show them what we have to offer".

Looking for talent

Without exception, the companies are looking for talent. Nora Bos of BDO Netherlands is looking for IT talents who are eager to learn and can work together. Morris, who got a job at BDO after his internship, is enthusiastic about the Career Day: "The Career Day gives you the opportunity to get to know different companies and find out what suits you. It helped me get my internship and eventually a side job".

Low-threshold introduction to future employers

According to Delta student Tim Brouwers, the Career Day is not only interesting for the companies: "During the Career Day, students can see what kind of companies match their wishes. Also, for those students who find it difficult to get in touch with companies, the Career Day is a low-threshold way to engage with professionals and the work field."

Discovering other opportunities within the study career

During the Career Day, students could also find out about all kinds of possibilities within the study. All minors, specialisations and master's degree programmes were represented at the information market.

A successful afternoon full of future opportunities!

Lecturers Martijn and Pieter are enthusiastic about combining the Information Market with the Career Day. Many students, also from the lower semesters, can see in one place what choices they can make in their study career. Some already have a direction in their minds and are looking for confirmation, while others do not yet know what is possible. By walking around the information market, they will be introduced to all the possibilities within our study programmes. They can also test at the companies which jobs are possible with a certain profile or specialisation.

Over 850 Fontys ICT students from Eindhoven and Tilburg visited the Career Day. Many matches were made. A successful afternoon!

The Fontys ICT Career Day takes place twice a year at the Fontys ICT InnovationLab in Eindhoven and once a year at P8 in Tilburg. Visitors can meet more than 60 companies, as well as various specialisations, minors and master's degree programmes.
