Project description
We wanted to design a course for students that want to start a minor in Cyber Security but don't have any experience with ICT.
Context
We noticed that some of our fellow CyberStars did not have any knowledge beforehand of ICT or Cyber Security. Those students told us that some of the assignments where very difficult for them for this reason. To eliviate this we wanted to design a course that would put them in a position that allows them to get a better start in for example a minor like we are doing now.
Results
We created a Canvas course that consists of 5 modules. During those 5 modules a student will get an explenation of the basic prinicples of ICT and Cyber Security, like how does a network work? These modules do not only contain pages of text, but also quizes that make sure a student has retained the knowledge that they read during a module.
About the project group
Our group consists of members from various study disciplines, such as ICT, ICT Management from Avans, and Journalism. We have been working on our project for three weeks. We divided the group into two teams: one part of the group focused on identifying the missing knowledge and skills needed to start a Cyber Security course, while the other team worked on designing the course to address these topics as effectively as possible.
