Project description
The goal of the assignment is to research and determine: How can the Gasoline assignment be executed? To answer this question, the following sub-question must be answered first:
1. What should be included in the data for the IT-infrastructure?
During this research question, a proper understanding of the clothing design process will be developed to help with determining and designing the data.
2. Should blockchain or AAS be used to develop the IT-infrastructure?
Either blockchain or AAS must be used to share information within the IT-infrastructure. Therefore, both must be investigated and tested to conclude with a decision.
3. How does the open ERP system have to be set up?
A proof of concept will be designed wherein two partners communicate in an open ERP system, linked to either blockchain or AAS and visualized in a dashboard.
Context
Gasoline@ BV is a fashion retailer in the garment business designing, producing, and selling different kind of clothes from 8 different brands. Each of the eight brands have a distinctive store aesthetic which is carried through to their online platforms and stores all over Europe.
The context of the project lies in the fact that it is not known in which country their clothing is manufactured. In addition, the origin and transportation of the raw materials of those clothes is also not transparent. This makes it difficult to estimate the carbon footprint or the risk of child labor of your garment. Also, we want to improve the recycling of these garments, so the more transparency in the process, the easier it will be to recycle them.
The project is based on the need for transparency in its supply chain. Information on the origin and costs of raw materials, production processes (including chemicals and costs) and the location of production should be available to all customers and the list of materials should be available to recycling companies.
Results
The main goal for this project is to create a qr code. The QR code will be generated and if you scan it you will get a dashboard. Each clothing type will have an unique QR code with all the information about that piece of clothing. For example, a t-shirt has multiple different materials and for each material used to create the T-shirt there will be a different dashboard with all the information about the material. In the dashboards, you will find all the sustainable information about the materials, such as transport, co2, etc.
To create the dashboard, there needs to be data. Therefore there will be an ERP system connected to an AAS. In the ERP system, the customers and manufacturers can add and change data about their clothing and that will be send to the AAS. In the AAS the database will be created and send to the Power BI dashboard and all the visualizations will be changed.
