Project description
We designed an interactive tool to enable new employees in the period between the signing of their contract until the end of their first year at GAC to (pre-)onboard and achieve a high completion rate of the onboarding process for new employees, while reducing the time spent by existing employees in assisting with onboarding.
Context
The issue at hand is the onboarding process of new employees at GAC Business Solutions. Currently, the onboarding process is handled through personal guidance from existing employees, which is considered intensive and repetitive. GAC aims to improve this process by introducing gamification.
Results
To improve onboarding at GAC, we propose developing multiple prototypes of an onboarding game using gamification techniques. The prototypes will test different gamification forms to gather data on effectiveness. They aim to create an engaging experience for new employees to learn about GAC. By testing, we identify the best gamification approach. The onboarding game supplements the current process, making it more efficient and effective. It should be regularly updated to reflect changes. This frees up employee time and helps new employees learn faster, feel at home, and contribute quickly. Personal guidance remains important for their success. We give our total package of prototypes a TRL of 3, This means that the prototypes have reached the stage where the technology concept has been made clear, and there is evidence to support its use. However, not all features have been fully developed and validated in a lab environment. There are still some vital features not ready, which in turn, means that we are not able to validate them in a lab environment.
