Project description
Meridian Consultancy will focus on researching security and compliance requirements to advise Interreg on regulatory frameworks, laws, and regulations related to operational and research data in the Netherlands and Flanders. The project involves the development of a platform by the FHICT department, allowing stakeholders to track the well-being trends of their employees through data collected via surveys and wearables. To achieve this, Meridian Consultancy will conduct a comprehensive examination of the relevant legal rules and legislations concerning the collection, storage, and utilization of personal data gathered from employees for research purposes.
Context
Samen aan-Z collaborates with Meridian Consultancy, a Fontys advanced business team comprised of ten students. The collaboration focuses on addressing the retention of healthcare personnel by enhancing the agility and innovation capacity of healthcare providers and organizations. The healthcare and welfare sector in Flanders and the Netherlands faces a shortage of healthcare professionals, resulting from high work pressure and stress levels, leading to premature staff attrition. To combat these challenges, the employers' federation, Verso, has identified key areas for intervention, including increasing workforce inflow, focusing on training and competency policies, fostering innovation and digitalization, increasing labor volume, and reducing staff outflow through retention strategies. However, healthcare organizations encounter various hurdles, such as disparities between small and large organizations in resources and willingness to embrace change, a reactive rather than preventive approach, and confusion caused by numerous initiatives. In this context, Meridian Consultancy will work diligently to identify and address the specific challenges and requirements of Samen aan-Z, with the ultimate goal of improving the well-being and satisfaction of healthcare personnel while supporting the long-term objectives of the organization.
Results
The primary goal of the project is to establish a data management plan that adheres to security and compliance laws and regulations, ensuring the protection and proper handling of sensitive data related to healthcare personnel and their retention.
One of the key outcomes of the project is the delivery of an advisory report that provides Interreg with essential insights and recommendations for developing and deploying the retention platform. This report outlines the necessary functional and technical requirements that the platform should meet to effectively address the challenges of healthcare personnel retention. By identifying and documenting these requirements, Meridian Consultancy enables Interreg to create a platform that caters to the specific needs of the stakeholders involved.
Additionally, the project focuses on capturing the user requirements of the partners who will utilize the platform. By conducting thorough research and engaging with the relevant stakeholders, Meridian Consultancy ensures that the platform is designed to meet the diverse and specific needs of each partner. This user-centric approach enhances the usability and effectiveness of the platform, ultimately contributing to the improvement of employee well-being and satisfaction.
The validation and positioning of these outcomes can be supported through a robust validation process. This involves engaging with key stakeholders, such as healthcare organizations, regulatory bodies, and legal experts, to review and assess the proposed data management plan, functional and technical requirements, and user requirements. By seeking their input and expertise, Meridian Consultancy can validate the viability, effectiveness, and compliance of the proposed solutions.
Furthermore, ensuring the alignment with data regulations, industry standards, and feedback received is crucial in positioning the outcomes. The project aims to develop and implement a retention platform that meets the necessary security and compliance requirements, ultimately contributing to the improvement of employee well-being and satisfaction in the healthcare sector.
