Project description
The client company FFA wishes to make use of open-source data to enhance their clients’ dashboard solutions. Our team is helping by investigating whether there is enough valuable open-source data related to the food industry in the context of food waste within food production. The goal is to find sufficient open-source datasets to give more insight into food waste in production, then adapt the data and create a dashboard to give a better overview of the current food waste situation.
Context
Food For Analytics (FFA) is a Dutch company with headquarters in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
With 20 years of experience in the food and tech industry Food for Analytics aims to optimize the food industry by eliminating waste, optimizing business processes, and increasing sustainability through data and analytics. Recently FFA has been focusing on researching the field of open-source data to try and apply it to their clients’ dashboard solutions to possibly enhance the production process and/or give a better overview of the problem of food waste within food production.
Results
Our team has performed in-depth research on the available food waste-related open-source data. Currently, we are finalizing several dashboards designed to represent the current food waste situation both on food production and food consumption levels.
About the project group
We are a dedicated team of DDBL minor students with a shared passion for data. Our team includes individuals with unique skills and perspectives: Alexandru and Nikita, specializing in ICT and Software; Mariyana, with a background in ICT and Business; Sam, Sven, and Kevin whose focus lies in Commercial Economics, and Thais with a background in international business. This diversity has proven to be our strength, allowing us to approach the project from multiple angles. Our varied expertise has been instrumental in navigating the complexities of our project.
