Auditing of Dynamic Decisions
Project description
The project for Blueriq revolves around optimizing their auditing technology, considering the complexity and urgency of decisions their customers face. The research questions are structured to thoroughly investigate the auditing process and the functionality of Blueriq's platform, especially in the context of local government clients.
Main Research Question:
How can Blueriq create or design the optimal auditing technology that accommodates the complexity and urgency of decisions that customers face?
Sub-Research Questions:
1. How has Blueriq’s technology been implemented for auditing within local government clients?
2. What is the best way for Blueriq’s clients to assess and validate the accuracy of auditing findings, considering their implications for future business development?
3. Are there any limitations or drawbacks in the current approaches to auditing with Blueriq’s technology in the local government sector?
4. How can Blueriq’s platform optimize the existing auditing processes to better align with the requirements and preferences of government clients?
5. How can Blueriq’s technology platform effectively incorporate auditing criteria to enhance the precision of auditing decision-making processes?
6. What are the potential ways that Blueriq’s enhanced auditing technology can be integrated into the existing IT systems of their government sector market?.
Context
Project Context:
The primary goal is to improve Blueriq's auditing technology, making it more aligned with the complex and urgent decision-making requirements of local government clients.
This involves analyzing the current use of Blueriq's technology in auditing, identifying any limitations or areas for enhancement, and then proposing optimized processes and functionalities.
The project serves as a foundational reference point for future improvements in Blueriq's auditing technology.
Domain:
The domain of this project is primarily in the sector of local government. It focuses on the application of auditing technology in government-related operations, which is a critical area considering the need for accuracy, reliability, and efficiency in public-sector auditing.
The project does not encompass the development of final products for active customer implementation, nor does it involve incorporating data from ongoing audit cycles of customers or developing software programs and APIs outside the Blueriq platform.
Results
Enhanced Auditing Platform: The core outcome is the enhancement of Blueriq's existing auditing platform. This involves tailoring the Blueriq Low-Code No-Code platform to better meet the complex and urgent needs of local government clients in their decision-making processes.
Implementation Guideline Development: Creating a comprehensive guideline for auditors/business engineers for the implementation of the Governance Risk Compliance Framework (GRC). This framework is structured to ensure adherence to various regulatory requirements and standards, risk identification and assessment, risk management and monitoring, and continuous improvement in the audit process.
Proof-of-Concept Creation: As a key outcome of our project, we have developed two distinct proof-of-concept dashboards using Power BI, each tailored to enhance the auditing processes within the government sector.
Comprehensive Auditing Dashboard: Our first proof-of-concept is a Power BI dashboard that centralizes and analyzes data from various government sector use cases. This dashboard streamlines the auditing process by aggregating essential information into a single view. It aids business engineers and auditors in evaluating the effectiveness of an audit and in deciding on the approval of auditing grants. This holistic approach ensures that auditing is conducted with greater accuracy and efficiency.
Inefficiency Analysis and Decision Verification Dashboard: The second dashboard delves deeper into identifying inefficiencies within these government sector use cases. It leverages advanced statistical analysis and incorporates process mining techniques. This dashboard is designed to scrutinize the decisions made in the auditing process, offering a multi-faceted statistical perspective. Its primary function is to verify the correctness of decisions made during the auditing process, thereby enhancing the reliability and integrity of the audit outcomes.
These proof-of-concept dashboards represent a significant advancement in auditing technology for Blueriq, showcasing our commitment to innovation and our ability to deliver practical, impactful solutions in the realm of government auditing.
About the project group
Educational Background: Our group predominantly comprises students from HBO-ICT Business, with specializations in Artificial Intelligence and Smart Industry. We also had the privilege of including exchange students experiencing Fontys for the first time. The group showcased a rich diversity with members hailing from Indonesia, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Italy, and Greece.
Project Duration & Time Commitment: The project spanned 18 weeks, with each member dedicating approximately 3 full working days of 20 hours each week. This consistent effort was vital in driving the project towards its objectives.
Collaboration Principles: We established a set of working principles documented in a collaboration file, ensuring everyone was aligned with the group's approach.
Communication Channels: Our primary communication tools were WhatsApp and MS Teams, facilitating seamless interaction among the team members.
Task Management: We employed Trello for project management, categorizing tasks into sections like Backlog, To Do, In Progress, and Done. This system helped us track progress effectively.
Daily Stand-ups: To maintain momentum, we held daily stand-up meetings. Each member shared their achievements from the previous day, highlighted any issues or challenges, and outlined their plans for the next steps.
Role Distribution: Our team structure included roles such as Scrum Master, Spokesperson, Project Leader, and Note Taker. These roles were essential in ensuring smooth communication and coordination, especially in our interactions with our client, Blueriq.
