Project description
The main research question of our project is how can we make an autonomous wall-e that can also be controlled manually and detect humans?
We had to start from scratch so the main challenge we faced was to design a robot by picking our own hardware and choosing the correct software and implementing everything.
Context
Enjoycleaningup wants a robot that can clean the environment in public places such as a restaurant or school. Currently, they have a head and treads for Wall-e but they are all separate parts so we need to build a smaller prototype model to showcase a simpler version of Wall-e that can represent the actual robot.
Results
The goals we set for ourselves are:
- Implementing a decentralized system (a distributed computer system).
- Manual control for Wall-e using Logitech joystick.
- Autonomous movement for Wall-e.
- Camera human and object detection.
- Obstacle detection using rplidar.
- Assembling the Wall-e prototype.
About the project group
Our project is a prototype of Wall-e from the Pixar movie. Our client Enjoycleaningup wants to create a Wall-e robot to pick up litters in areas such as restaurant or school playground etc. We created our prototype robot from scratch using hardware and software that we choose ourselves. The goal is to deliver a working prototype that can move automatically and manually and also to detect humans to interact with. The duration of our project is 5 months with the aim for the next group to continue after us.
