Project description
The Mechatronics transfer system toploader (MTST) is a demonstration system, showing the potential benefits and possibilities of Smart Industry. The transfer system represents a manufacturing process in which an assembled manufactures goods, that are transported into a (semi-finished) product. The example product that is manufactured by the system is a lego toy car, which is constructed along several steps. The transfer system transports the car parts via a belt system using tiles. At the stations around the system machining actions can be conducted, like by picking the good with a robot arm. The transfer system is controlled by means of a Siemens PLC.
The transfer system (MTST) was developed by students and lecturers of Fontys Engineering.
The transfer system is located at the Brainport Industry Campus (BIC), which is 5 kilometres away from Strijp TQ. An impression of the transfer system and more about its usage can be found on Youtube:
A first iteration of the digital twin was already been was developed by ICT-students in the previous semester (2021nj):
Context
The context is within the industrial automation, we created a demonstration device for the already existing PLC machine.
Results
We successful produced the digital twin machine.
