Project description
The research groups currently make use different platforms and services to create their own work environment. Which means that Fontys as organisation does not at the time of writing provide a full-fledged IT service to these research groups. This means that that there is not much that is centralized or managed, which has created handover issues in the past. This is because there is yet no infrastructure relatively easily deployable by IT management, which is one of the reasons why the end users usually use varying solutions.
Context
The Fontys ICT InnovationLab needs a network infrastructure and established procedures to support the various innovation projects in the field of IT.
Results
We have developed an environment for Fontys Innovation Lab in which the focus is mainly on centralizing and making things simpler for both management and end-users. From this we have made the choice to use Microsoft products as a basis. The Fontys Innovation Lab environment will be based on Azure. The flexibility that is possible with Azure fits best with the architecture choice. The choice of architecture ensures that a basic IT environment is rolled out for each project group, which can be expanded as a kind of building blocks by means of various components/services. An example of a building block can be an authentication service. This can then be added to the IT environment. This authentication service is the same for every project group, so the same standards are used. The basic IT environment only contains the services that are necessary to make the environment functional. It has also been set up in such a way that the requirements set by management are applied.
About the project group
Our project group consists of many group members, which are all part of the ICT Infrastructure-stream.
