Project description
The main research question is: "What methods are possible to process operational data from different machines at Neways with one unified system?".
To be able to answer this main question the following sub questions will be researched:
- What are the criteria for suitable solutions?
- Is AAS a suitable solution to process operational data from different machines at Neways?
- Is the SCF-Stack a suitable solution to process operational data from different machines at Neways?
- Have other solutions already been developed to process operational data from different machines?
Context
The project is about finding a generic way to get operational data from different machines with different protocols to 1 dashboard. The project is for Neways, a company that offers customised solutions for the full lifecycle of PCBA's, cables, microelectronics and box build applications. Neways goes from the idea to the development, to the production, repairs and services. They have a lot of machines to make those products and there is a lot of variety in those machines.
To reap the benefits from Industrie 4.0, they want to collect data from their machines, but at this point they must make a new program to be able to communicate with every new machine and retrieve the data because there is no standard in the way the machines output their data. That is why it is useful to find a generic solution to get the data from those different machines to 1 dashboard. A possible solution might be the use of digital twinning (or use of AAS). This will also be researched in this project.
Results
The result of this project is a combination of advice to the customer about which direction to take on their road towards a more connected factory floor, and a proof of concept regarding the translation and harmonization of the machine data.
About the project group
We're a group of four students, all ICT & technology, but all bringing different skills to the table. We've worked on this project for 18 weeks.
