How do we use technology to help elderly people communicate more with their friends and family?

Context

The project has connections with healthcare: we are tying to help the elderly communicate more by using technology, to help them stay and live independent longer.

Results

We have built a video calling application that can be installed in a television set, therefore integrating the communication application with the living space of the user. To extend this television installation, we have created and tested several ways of interacting with the installation, like using a phone an dialing a number to start a video call. Last but not least, we have looked at ways to help encourage the use of out setup, like using an automated matching system or integrating the system in more parts of the living space of the user, like a dinner table.
