Canvas Rubric Creator

Project description

Rubric is a simple way to set up grading criteria for assignments. It helps the student to know what is expected from them to achieve a particular grade for an assignment. As one of the most popular e-learning management environment, Canvas also applied this feature to help their users, including students and teachers of FHICT Open Learning, effectively organize and grade assignments. Nevertheless, the interface and workflow of the current Rubric editor have received mixed reactions from the community since Canvas released its first version.

With our challenge we want to answer the question: "How can we improve the current Canvas Rubric Creator?"

Context

Canvas is an online learning platform, used by Fontys. Fontys also came with the idea of updating the Rubric creator in Canvas, as an Open Learning challenge.
Potential users will range from students and teachers.

Results

Within our project we mainly focussed on research; what aspects of the Rubric creator would the target audience like to see changed?

We’ve built multiple mock-ups, held interviews, and created a Proof of Concept.
Furthermore this project taught us some research methodologies as well as project management.
