Project description
Design a User Interface to enable the operators of the Additive Industries' 3D printers to follow the process of the 3D printers, get notified of production status and take action when needed, in a clear and intuitive way.
Context
At the moment Additive Industries does not have a central environment with which all machines can be monitored and controlled remotely. It is inefficient that the employees always have to stay close to the machines to keep track of whether the processes are running smoothly and to detect possible errors. For each process the right machine has to be found individually and be checked. The challenge of the assignment is therefore to solve this.
Results
The project was a major success. The stakeholders were joyous about the system and design, and felt like it already belonged in their company. Important learning outcomes were correct implementation of userflow, working with existing design guidelines, and applying heuristics based on frameworks.
About the project group
We spent 9 weeks in a group settings with stakeholder meetings every other week. Using this method we had a co-creation method of designing and creating the application.
