Project description
The main research for this project was figuring out whenever RAMI 4.0 is an actual fit for the company and the possible connectivity between the different parts of the company. For the scoping, we focussed on the Shop Floor Planning and the data-connection part of RAMI 4.0. RAMI 4.0 is interchangeably used with Industry 4.0.
Context
As the project description mentioned, the main topic of the project was Industry 4.0. This is a so-called fourth Industrial Revolution. So, this project focusses on the industry. Seeing as data is becoming more and more important, it starts to become essential for companies like KMWE to focus on their data availability and usability. By doing so, it's easier to compete on the market and makes them able to keep up with the current trends without a complete company make-over.
Results
Within the project, the main research has been on what the current situation is, and how they possibly can achieve their desired results. The desired results is a combination of the employees affected by the change and the client themselves. Ideally, when it comes to data connectivity, they want it all connected to their main ERP system, Glovia. However, during our research, we've found several bumps in the road their might have to work on first. All the changes will work towards Industry 4.0, so it won't be a waste of time for either party. Employees likely will embrace the change instead of resent it.
As advice, we recommend starting to map out the data the company has and figure out what kind of guidelines and protocols are necessary to make uniform and complete. Accessibility will also be recommended, though we know this is already an ongoing-project. We recommend using RPAs or program-scripts for cleaning up the data, seeing as that is an easy, efficient away that will avoid human mistakes. These things will, eventually, all contribute to reaching Industry 4.0.
About the project group
In our group, we're all ICT & Business students. We worked together in a democratic way. Opinions could be voiced and discussed and there was a majority rule. We played on each other's strengths to achieve the best result possible within the given timeframe.
