Project description
Research and design a digital product passport for an energy system, using BaSyx as a digital twin middleware.
Context
Batteries are an important element in energy systems to ensure energy supply in our society. Batteries provide power “on demand,” they can accommodate peaks, and they make it possible to provide green power “anywhere and everywhere”. Batteries provide buffers in today’s energy systems, generating and storing energy in a decentral manner.
The raw materials to make batteries are scarce. Therefore, work is underway to reuse batteries. To reuse components, more visibility on battery usage and life is needed. Therefore, we want to monitor batteries.
Results
We restructured the initial project we were presented with in a more organized way, made various improvements and reworks. We migrated from BaSyx v1 to v2, due to v1 reaching its end-of-life. We optimized the hardware's codebase. We added support for logging time series data, which can be viewed in real time.
