How can we increase social cohesion in neighborhoods that need it most? We found that loneliness has been rising the last years, due to for example COVID-19 and social media. People have spent enough time inside. Let's go outside and meet new people!
Context
For our target group, we chose the neighborhoods Gildebuurt and Hemelrijken, because they have the lowest social cohesion score in Eindhoven. We found that a common characteristic of those neighborhoods is that there are relatively many different cultures. Our goal became to bring those cultures together, and what better way to do that than music?
Results
Our Musical Kitchen increases interaction between the residents of the neighborhoods. It connects people from different cultures and different ages while they are playing music together.
